One lonely night I browsed the Humane Society of Tampa Bay’s website, looking for a new companion. I saw a picture of a little dog named Moe. The next day, right at noon I went to the shelter and asked to see Moe. At first I didn’t think that he took to me because he seemed so distracted by being out of the kennel. I was hesitant because he was 5 years old and had a terrible cough but I decided to take him home and nurture him back to better health. With some meds, a vet visit, and love, Moe no longer coughs. His fur is fluffy and shinny and he has the energy of a puppy.
As an online graduate student, I had been very isolated with my computer alone in my apartment. But now Moe and I take several walks a day. I’ve lost a little weight. I breathe in the fresh Florida air and enjoy seeing Moe get excited over birds and squirrels. Moe and I have met our other neighbors with dogs. I don’t need an alarm clock anymore because every morning at exactly 7:30 Moe wakes me with kisses.
It’s ironic that I thought I was saving Moe and he has really saved me. Thanks Humane Society of Tampa Bay!

I adopted a mix, Mutt Puppy last year and he turned out to be the best friend/companion I have ever had. He is smart and loving and absolutely adorable! Thank you Humane Society for saving him for me.
These are our two babies that we have adopted. Jackson was adopted from the Humane Society in March 2008. He was previously named “Bo” ID# 4331231. We fell in love with his personality and he has been a blessing to our family. His brindle coloring is more like gold shining to everyone we meet. Our black lab mix Abby was adopted December 2009 from Community Concern for Animals.
As you can see they get along great and have made our family complete when added to our two adopted cats Lilo & Stitch. We are one big happy family…two-legged & four-legged…and we would not have it any other way!
