Director of Development

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is seeking a Director of Development to oversee the development program including annual, planned and major gifts. The Director of Development will also develop goals and strategies for all fundraising campaigns and meets with donors and prospective donors to create and foster relationships and create a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. The ideal candidate must be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures for a development position and will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must be able to perform a variety of jobs and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Duties:

  • Supervises development strategies and activities such as direct mail, special events, corporate relations, donor cultivation, planned giving, and major gift cultivation to meet annual operating goals
  • Submits and follows established department budget
  • Develops and implements special fundraising campaigns such as Capital and Endowment Campaigns
  • Guides and supervises development staff including: Donor Relations Coordinator who manages donor database and Special Events & Outreach Coordinator who plans and implements all fundraising & outreach events.
  • Supports and coordinates Board of Directors and Advisory Council
  • Works closely with marketing coordinator to raise awareness and visibility
  • Maintains confidentiality of all donor issues and shelter operations.
  • Performs all other duties as necessary and required by the Executive Director

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies and cultivates potential new donors
  • Solicits and manages current donors
  • Donor visitation & acknowledgement
  • Oversee Development Department
  • Board Development

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience. Five years fundraising in nonprofit environment and two years supervisory experience. CFRE desirable. Excellent driving record. Drug Free Workplace. Ability to travel as necessary.

  • Experience working on computer with Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet research, PowerPoint and Donor databases (knowledge of Donor Perfect is desirable).

Part-Time Veterinary Technician

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is seeking two part-time, experienced Vet Techs for the Animal Health Center. This position includes weekends and some holidays.

Candidate must have a minimum of two years clinical experience and be proficient in cytology, urinalysis, fecals, parasite identification and treatment, blood draws, vaccinations, tests, skins scrapes, aging, animal restraint, medication dosing calculations and their uses. Candidate must also possess and demonstrate excellent team player spirit, be able to multi-task, and show focus and follow through in a very busy environment.

Salary is based on experience level.

Full-Time Surgery Technician for Shelter

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is seeking a full-time, experienced Surgery Tech for the shelter. Candidates must have experience in the following areas:

  • Monitoring Anesthesia
  • Intubation, both cats and dogs
  • Basic knowledge of anesthetic drugs
  • Ability to administer vaccines
  • Basic anatomy knowledge for anesthetic injection

Happy Tails # 762
Cody and Gia came to HSTB this December with donations in tow! They used to be Betty Boop and Cody and were extremely emaciated when we took them in two years ago. One of our Gold-shirt volunteers fostered them back to health and they have found a wonderful forever family! Now they are so happy and healthy. The profile picture is them with their new family and donations, and the picture below is their reunion with their foster mom, Ornella.
