Tampa Bay’s Gen X and Millennial generations are showing increased philanthropic activity with a large number of the hardworking, fun loving group expressing a committed interest in animal welfare. With that in mind, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay recently launched Tampa Tails-  a young professionals networking group who fundraise for our homeless animals through events and hands-on volunteering at the shelter.

“Feedback from our signature fundraising events as well as partnerships with local businesses has shown us that young professionals want to be actively involved in causes for good,” said Humane Society of Tampa Bay Special Events Manager Ornella Varchi. “We are excited to provide them with opportunities to have a great time while networking with fellow animal lovers to support a common passion for homeless pets.”

Tampa Tails membership is open to professionals between the ages of 25 and 45 and includes entry to six annual cocktail events with partners such as Datz Restaurant Group, Ava and other local favorites. Members also participate in Mutts & Mimosas volunteer days with our animals at the shelter. Members can sign up online or by calling 813-876-4150.

Tampa Tails is led by dedicated committee members Katie Busciglio (Busciglio Smiles Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry), Brooke Palmer Kuhl (RSBP Events + PR), Whitney McKay (BlueGrace Logistics), Gina Moccio (Datz Restaurant Group), Colleen O’Brien (Thirteenth Judicial Circuit), Gabby Soriano (WS Development/Hyde Park Village), Laura Tatem (Tampa International Airport), and Ornella Varchi (Humane Society of Tampa Bay).
