The Humane Society of Tampa Bay opened doors this morning on our new, outdoor cat lanai. The lanai is accessible through a cat door from the free-roaming area inside our shelter and will allow the cats to go in and out at will. Now, as they wait for their forever homes, our cats will be able to roll in grass, sleep in sunbeams, and perch in all sorts of places to watch the world go by. This innovative enrichment measure will help cut down on illness brought on by stress and give the cats more opportunities for socialization. The lanai is secure and will be kept locked at all times.

Dog lovers across Tampa Bay will be feelin’ groovy on Saturday, September 20, 2014 when Woofstock returns to Hyde Park Village. From 4:00pm – 7:00pm the Humane Society of Tampa Bay will host the far out, dog-friendly music festival to benefit their cool cats and doggie dudes (and dudettes, of course). A $15 entrance donation includes an event t-shirt, beverage and raffle ticket. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
Attendees can get groovy listening to the psychedelic tunes of Eccentric while visiting vendors, snacking at food trucks and browsing an amazing assortment of raffle items. And, true to the festive spirit of the event, adult libations provided by Yuengling will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. There will also be plenty of pet-friendly fun including chill-n-splash pools, trippin’ treats and hippy pictures for people and their pets.
The event is sponsored by Fuzzie Buddies, Honor Thy Pet, Hyde Park Village, Jerry Ulm Dodge, Sunny’s Biscuits and Yuengling.
