The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is deeply concerned about the animals and people who are suffering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with their communities and we are in contact with national animal groups working in the afflicted areas to offer our help. We will certainly let the community know if we are chosen as a site to receive any of these pets in need. In the meantime, if you would like to support the care of these animals we would suggest you donate to one of the following organizations currently on the ground in the disaster zones:

For the ninth consecutive year, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has received Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating. As the highest possible achievement, the 4-star rating indicates that Humane Society of Tampa Bay:

  • adheres to sector best practices
  • executes its mission in a financially efficient way
  • exceeds industry standards
  • outperforms most charities in the area of animal welfare work.

In fact, only 2% of the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator have received at least 9 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Humane Society of Tampa Bay outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Humane Society of Tampa Bay apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.

“The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is extremely grateful to our donors for granting us the means to save more than 8,000 lives each year,” said HSTB Chief Development Officer Karen Ryals. “One way we show them our gratitude is by stewarding their gifts in the most ethical way. Our donors can be confident that investing in our mission is a safe and responsible decision.”

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay has served animals in the greater Tampa Bay community and throughout the southeast for more than 100 years. The Society is not affiliated with any national animal welfare organization and receives no state or federal funding but relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses to realize their mission of ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need.
