For the second consecutive year, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) will participate in the popular Clear the Shelters pet adoption drive. Hosted locally by WFLA-TV / News Channel 8 (“WFLA”), the national initiative launched in August and will culminate in shelters across the nation with ‘Clear the Shelters’ day on Saturday, August 18.  HSTB will participate by waiving adoption fees for all pets and hosting a celebration at the shelter between the hours of 10:00am and 5:00pm.

As part of the celebration, Katie Sommers of 93.3 FLZ will broadcast live from the shelter from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The Society will also offer lunch from the grill, children’s activities and face-painting, tropical shaved ice by Kona Ice of Tampa Bay, and more.

“We are excited to participate in Clear The Shelters again this year”, said HSTB Director of Shelter Operations Danyelle Ho. “We’ll be throwing a fantastic party and hope to empty all of our kennels so that we can fill them right back up with more animals in need.”

Animals available for adoption on Saturday, August 18, will be viewable at by 9:00pm Friday evening (August 17). Adoptions are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and potential pet parents are encouraged to arrive early as lines will form.

Clear the Shelters is an initiative spearheaded by NBC Universal owned television stations, a division of NBCUniversal. ‘Clear the shelters’ is sponsored nationally by Cat’s Pride and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. The local sponsors are Precision Overhead Garage Door, Nissan, California Closets and Maus Nissan.
