1912: The Humane Society of Tampa Bay was established
1926: A bequest of the property and a two story house on 3607 N. Armenia was left
1929: the animal shelter began operations
1960s: The current facility was built
1980s: The facility was enlarged to include kennels
2000: The lowcost spay/neuter clinic was opened
2004: Became a “No Kill for Space” facility
2007: Joined the ASPCA Mission Orange
2008: Opened the affordable wellness clinic
2012: Opened the Animal Health Center, combining and expanding the spay/neuter and wellness clinics
2014: became the first non-profit veterinary hospital in Florida to be accredited by AAHA
For more than 100 years, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. Named a Four-Star Charity by Charity Navigator since 2008, and accredited by AAHA, the standard in veterinary excellence, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay is dedicated to the highest standards in animal sheltering and veterinary care. Our adoption programs, affordable veterinary services, community outreach efforts and volunteer opportunities are essential to the health and well being of animals across Tampa Bay.
