Two Is Hotter Than One!
Sabrina and Sebastian came to us in April 2014 as a bonded, older pair. Because of their love for each other, we wanted them to be adopted together. It took nearly a year, but a wonderful, forever home was finally found, thanks to the amazing video by Schifino Lee and a wonderful article by Keith Morelli of The Tampa Tribune. For nine months, they bonded, living together as the longest reigning residents at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and wondering when they would find their “perfect home.”
On Sunday, they did.
Sebastian and Sabrina, placed at the Armenia Avenue shelter in April after their owners moved and couldn’t take them along, have been adopted.
“#SABRASTIAN HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!” said the post on the humane society’s Facebook page, announcing the dogs finally will be leaving the shelter.
The humane society had hoped the two would be adopted as a pair, because of their inseparable bond, and that’s exactly what Leott Ferlita Wydetic did, according to the Facebook post.
The post includes photos posted by Wydetic, showing the pals lounging on a cushy couch and getting acclimated with their new surroundings.
“Lots of excitement for one day! These super sweet pups are already right at home!” Wydetic posted on Facebook.
The adoption of the dogs – who were at the facility the longest of any animals since 2007 — caps an effort by the humane society to find owners that included a marketing campaign by Schifino Lee that elevated Sabrina and Sebastian to canine celebrity status. The campaign even included a video that touted the lovable pair’s bond.
Wrote the humane society: “Happy tears were shed and hugs were exchanged as they left the shelter to begin their new lives together … forever!”
